Austin Shook
Artistic Director
Austin Shook — a Michigan native — moved to Florida in March 2021. Before relocating, Austin taught low brass lessons on trombone, euphonium, and tuba. He served as the assistant conductor for the Community Music School Concert Band and guest conducted the Cereal City Concert Band. As a freelance musician, he performed with numerous community bands and orchestras throughout West Michigan.
Austin has a twin brother, also an accomplished trombone and euphonium player. The brothers both studied performance at Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio.
After moving to Florida, Austin became an active performer with several wind ensembles in the Tampa Bay region. He began his Florida conducting career with the Pinellas Community Players (now the North Pinellas Community Band), where he still serves as conductor. He has also been a featured guest conductor with ensembles including the Tampa Bay Symphonic Winds and the Dunedin Concert Band.
When he’s not playing his tuba or leading an ensemble, you can often find Austin relaxing with his toes in the sand at one of Tampa Bay’s many beautiful beaches.
